PHIL HOWARD IS TURNING HIS PASTA DELIVERY BRAND OTTO INTO A RESTAURANT

Phil Howard launched pasta delivery brand Otto with business partner Julian Dyer when we were going in and out of lockdowns, and now he’s turning it into a bricks-and-mortar restaurant on Piccadilly later this year. Yes London is getting another fresh pasta joint. Executive Chef Louis Korovilas (who’s opened Bancone and Noci himself as well as worked at Locanda Locatelli, so he knows his way around a bowl of pasta) will be heading up the kitchen, cooking a menu of simple snacks and starters like rosemary, tomato & garlic focaccia and vitello tonnato, and authentic pasta dishes coming in around the £9 – £13 mark, including:

  • gnocchetti with smashed sausage, white wine, fennel & chilli
  • pappardelle with slow-cooked beef shin, oxtail & red wine
  • squid ink spaghetti with sardines, sweet peppers & tomato
  • bucatini with a ragout of autumn vegetables, mushrooms & chestnuts

You’ll be able to see all the pasta rolling in action too as the open kitchen be at the heart of the restaurant, with wood features, olive green tiles and rattan shades bringing the Italian trattoria vibes. If you’re looking for a good meal in central that won’t break the bank, Otto could be one to have in your back pocket.
