It’s come over all the way from Lima
Fan in Lima, Peru, which has been nominated as one of the best Japanese-Peruvian restaurants in the city for the past three years, has gone international and opened an outpost in Notting Hill. Run by three childhood friends, Romina Parra, Santiago Won and Jorge Sasaki, Fan serves what the trio call ‘neo-nikkei’ cuisine, evolving the Japanese-Peruvian fusion cuisine with Chinese and other influences from around the world.
The restaurant looks to be running an omakase menu as well as an a la carte offering, with dishes like:
- Lima razor clams with smoked Peruvian yellow chilli
- tuna taco tempura with Nikkei guacamole
- seared scallops with yuzu butter, Grana Padano and quinoa pops
- prawn and truffle gyoza with fungi butter
- scallop crispy rice with squash butter and manchego cheese
- hamachi tiradito with scallop emulsion and smashed Peruvian corn
- lúcuma fruit mousse with Peruvian chocolate and matcha
It only opened in July so Fan is currently BYOB while the team wait for the licence to come in, but from their Instagram it looks like pisco sours will be on the cards soon.
