PECKHAM CELLARS IS OPEN

Peckham has a new (-ish, it opened back in November) wine bar and restaurant in the shape of Peckham Cellars. The neighbourhood joint is run by Helen Hall (who’s worked at Rovi), Luke West-Whylie (ex-Marcella and Jones Family Kitchen) and Ben McVeigh (formerly head sommelier at 28-50 Fetter Lane), and serves a seasonal, changing menu and wine list.

You can pop in for a few bar snacks like potato dauphines with gouda and ‘dirty onion’ tortilla, or settle in for a proper dinner with dishes like eel, ‘nduja and pickled green tomatoes; carrot & feta borek with red onion salsa; day-boat Cornish brill with fava and salsa verde; and onglet with Colston Bassett and smashed potatoes, with a family-style menu running on Sunday lunchtimes.

On the wine front, there’s an 80-strong list, which includes classic varieties, bottles from small producers in emerging regions like Slovenia and Tenerife, and a ‘weird and wonderful’ section. All the wines are available to buy in the Peckham Cellars bottle shop should you want to continue the party at home.

See which other Peckham hangouts we keep coming back to here.
