PATTERN PORTRAITS INSTALLATION TO BE TURNED INTO SUSTAINABLE CLOTHING

A new sustainable clothing line made from a large-scale public art installation is coming to London. Pattern Portraits, a series of bright patterned flags stretching between the roofs of Coal Drops Yard created by artist Lauren Godfrey, will be turned into sustainable clothes once the installation comes down.

The flags, designed by Godfey in collaboration with textile students at Central St Martins during lockdown, will be transformed by London-based fashion house VENTURA/Foreman into shirts, jackets, trousers and bucket hats. Not only will the flags be getting a new lease of life, they’re made from GOTS-certified hemp slub and are 100% recyclable. The proceeds from the line will go towards funding arts-based grants, so it’s all for a good cause too.
