A Stage Adaptation of Paranormal Activity is Coming the West End

Millennials rise up – the franchise that once kept you awake for weeks is heading to the West End

For 12 weeks starting this December, The Ambassadors Theatre in Covent Garden will host an immersive stage adaptation of Paranormal Activity, inspired by the cult horror films that haunted the late 2000s and early 2010s.

After a hit run at Leeds Playhouse last summer, the show, directed by Punchdrunk’s Founder and Artistic Director Felix Barrett, arrives in London this winter. There’s a brand new story following James and Lou, a couple who relocate from Chicago to London in an attempt to outrun their past, only to learn the unsettling truth: it’s not the house that’s haunted, it’s them!

If you were around in 2009, you’ll remember how Paranormal Activity changed horror forever. The original film made $193 million worldwide, terrifying audiences with grainy surveillance footage, jump scares and a constant sense of unease. This adaptation takes that fear up a notch, promising an immersive experience and what the creators call “an unsettling intimacy only theatre can provide.”

Paranormal Activity: A New Story Live on Stage is just one of the many film-to-stage adaptations coming to the West End over the next few months. In October The Hunger Games: On Stage comes to Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre promising audiences an “extraordinary stunts and illusions in an epic, unforgettable, theatrical experience”.

If you’ve got the nerve, tickets to Paranormal Activity: A New Story Live on Stage are on sale now.
