2019 was definitely the year of fresh pasta, with a host of new pasta-focused spots joining stalwarts like Padella. Now the OG is ensuring that the trend continues into this year by opening a second site, complete with in-house bakery, in Shoreditch. The original Padella opened in Borough Market back in 2016 and has basically had long queues out the door ever since – yes they’re still really long even now – thanks to a concise and cheap menu of antipasti and fresh hand-rolled pasta, including the legendary pici cacio e pepe and 8-hour beef shin ragu.
We’re expecting more of the same at the new Padella, with hopefully much smaller queues. This is already one of the most hyped openings of the year though, so maybe not.
