P.FRANCO IS REOPENING AFTER A SUCCESSFUL CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN

After a shock closure this March, the team behind the Clapton-based wine bar asked for support in getting the restaurant back open

In mid-March, P.Franco announced suddenly that they were permanently closed, as were their sibling sites Noble Fine Liquor and Bright. But, just two weeks later, they took to Instagram to call on P.Franco fans to support them in their efforts to relaunch.

P.Franco’s manager of nearly two years, Will Gee, launched a Crowdfunder with the goal of raising £10,000, with Gee writing “the thought of seeing P.Franco close its doors permanently isn’t something I’m willing to accept. Seeing the response from the public to the announcement was incredibly moving; its impact over the last 9 years has been made so clear by all the messages of support and desire for something to be done.” He also commented on why the three spots closed down in the first place, saying that the company under which P.Franco was traded (We Are Noble Ltd) had been liquidated after financial negligence led to substantial fines.

This new P.Franco project was launched with the blessing of original owners Phil Bracey and Will Gleave, but they will no longer be involved, and none of the money raised will go towards We Are Noble Ltd’s costs. The crowdfunding campaign has been a huge success, raising a total of £19,625 in 35 days, and Gee now hopes to re-open the bar in mid-June.
