The days are getting longer, the temps are getting higher and that means al fresco dining is back on and the mother of all outdoor dining tables is coming back to London. Outstanding in the Field is an American supper club that bills itself as a ‘roving restaurant without walls’ – huge tables are set up in spectacular locations like vineyards and beaches and guest chefs come in and cook up a feast, with the aim being to connect diners to the source of their food.
It started in 1999 and after travelling through all fifty states plus 16 other countries, including a London stop for the first time last year, Outstanding in the Field is returning to the capital. The table will be pitching up at Sitopia Farm near Woolwich and Sarit Packer and Itamar Srulovich from Honey & Co will be responsible for the food. Tickets are £290 per person, including welcome drinks, canapes, a four-course feast and wine pairings, so it ain’t cheap but boy will it be good.
