After smashing it during lockdown with the launch of the online Oranj shop, founder Jasper Delamothe is taking things IRL this November by opening his very own wine bar and kitchen. Taking over a 2000 sq ft former stable and warehouse space, with lots of concrete, walnut, and aluminium, Oranj will be the first dedicated natty wine bar in Shoreditch.
Jasper is describing Oranj as a “pub for wine drinkers”, and naturally it’ll be stocked with plenty of low-intervention bottles, from Catalonian whites to low-ABV reds from Jura to orange wines from around the world. There’ll also be a short cocktail list, including a Smoked Tea Old Fashioned and Chilli Margarita, and Lambic beers.
As well as serving up a bar menu, featuring small plates like cured meats and cheeses, croquetas, and tortilla de patatas, Oranj will also run a guest chef residency series, kicking off with Decatur in December. The bar will be on soft launch from 3rd – 15th November, with more guest chefs passing through, so you can get a sneak peek ahead of the official opening. CHEERS.
