omotesando koffee opens in fitzrovia

Super cool Japanese coffee chain Omotesando Koffee has come to London, setting up shop in Rathbone Square. The Fitzrovia shop is their first European branch, joining other sites in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok.

Omotesando started life as a one man band, with owner Eiichi Kunitomo serving each customer on his own, focusing on the ritual of the brewing. He soon gained a cult following and the chain expanded, taking its coffee, bubbly iced cappuccinos and egg sandos across Asia. The shops are pared back and minimal – very Japanese – but each one has a nod to the local area, so we’re intrigued to see how they’ll adapt to a London crowd.
