OLD SPIKE ROASTERY TO OPEN LONDON’S FIRST CARBON & PLASTIC NEUTRAL COFFEE SHOP

Old Spike Roastery, the social enterprise that works to tackle homelessness through specialty coffee (and one of our Local Heroes), are branching out of their Peckham home and opening London’s first carbon and plastic neutral cafe in Piccadilly Circus. The new shop, which’ll be followed by three more central London locations in the next six months, will provide a London Living Wage job for someone who’s experienced homelessness. Old Spike will also be running a donation scheme for homeless charity The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields, where each coffee purchase will generate points that get turned into funds for the charity.

The cafe will also reflect Old Spike’s commitment to sustainability – the business plants a tree for every bag of coffee sold through their partnership with Eden Reforestation Project – being both carbon and plastic neutral. As well as selling their specialty coffee and baked treats from Faran Customs, there’ll be reusable coffee silos in-store to encourage refills and an on-site dispensary where you can pick up coffee to take home, so you’ll be doing good whilst getting your caffeine fix.

Opens Weds 8th December 2021
