Ivan Orkin is bringing his successful ramen concept to Islington next month
London’s had an influx of American imports recently, with New England’s much-loved seafood spot Saltie Girl landing in Mayfair last November and LA’s NIGHT+MARKET arriving in Shepherd’s Bush in the shape of new restaurant Chet’s. Now, we’re getting ready to welcome another as Ivan Orkin is coming to Islington with a brand new concept.
In early February, Orkin will settle in for a four-week residency at pop-up venue Neighbourhood with Ivan Mazemen and a menu of the broth-less bowls of ramen that have become a staple at his Tokyo and NYC sites. Expect the likes of:
- Triple Chicken Triple Garlic Mazemen (fresh garlic, roasted garlic, garlic oil, paitan broth, chicken)
- Katsu Curry Mazemen (panko breaded chicken breast, Japanese curry, thick rye noodles, assorted fukujinzuki)
- Cold Sesame Noodles (chilled Szechuan chicken, roasted peppers, preserved chilli, coriander)
The Chef’s Table star first opened Ivan Ramen in Tokyo in 2006 and has since opened a series of acclaimed ramen shops in Japan and New York – this move to London will mark Orkin’s UK debut. It’ll also mark the first international name that Neighbourhood will welcome for a residency.
