Noodle and Beer Chinatown Review | “Perfect Your Pulls at This 3am Date Place”

We’ve long been fans of Noodle and Beer in Spitalfields so we were happy when they announced a new site in Chinatown

Given this one is more central, they’ve not only jazzed up the interiors but they’ve also created a bigger, better, more social media savvy menu that interestingly doesn’t feature one single pork dish. Quite a bolshy move for a Chinatown restaurant….

Eat This

Owner Xiaoxiao Wang, who hails from Sichuan Province, has infused the menu with the riot of spicy flavours that his region of China is known for. But unlike many other Sichuan spots, he’s also added some theatrical gold – literally. The Super King Braised Beef Ribs on blanket noodles is sprayed with gold before the server cuts up the meat with scissors at the table. There’s also a creative mash-up of less trad dishes, inspired by flavours from Wang’s childhood and international influences, like the chicken nuggets and the crispy courgette fries with Persian spices.

The Miso & Butter Dry Noodle is worth an order too; the super bouncy, chewy noodles with creamy miso chickpeas, buttery chilli oil, and sweet caramelised cabbage is a welcome respite from the spice.

Drink This

There’s a fun drinks menu of classics and a couple of highballs that are well worth digging into. Failing that we’d say stick to the beer, with a decent list of options on draft and by the bottle (the clue’s in the name!).

Why Go

It beats a sh***y 3am Maccy D’s any day of the week, so if you’ve been boozing in Soho, your food options just levelled up. Trust us, your hangover will thank you. That said, the upstairs is also a great pitstop for a solo diner or a pre-theatre feed. The flavourful food is served fast, and service is efficient to say the least!
