usually equal high prices and poor quality food and drink as standard, which is why when we heard about No.1 Traveller lounges we thought we’d check them out. No.1 Traveller is a group of independent ‘pay-as-you-go’ airport lounges which offer a selection of facilities for a pretty reasonable price.

We visited the Gatwick North Airport lounge located in the North Terminal (clue’s in the name). The lounge itself pretty huge and it feels like your a million miles away from the mayhem of the main terminal, in fact it doesn’t feel like you’re in an airport at all – only the view of the planes from the window give it away.

The lounge features free WiFi access with a number of computers to use, a dining area and bar with views over the runway, cinema suite with comfy sofas and nibbles, games room with pool table and a Travel Spa which offers short treatments from just £15. We grabbed a quick pedicure before departing for our flight in disposable flip flops which are not a good idea if you need to run for your gate!

Access to the lounge costs from £15 – £30 depending on whether or not you book in advance. The price includes food and drinks (alcoholic and soft). On our visit we sampled Eggs Benedict and a selection of dishes from the cold buffet including cous cous, salads and quiches plus a variety of cakes.

If you’re off on your jollies we’d recommend starting your journey in style at No.1 Traveller – for the price it’s more than worth it!
