Michelin-starred Swedish chef Niklas Ekstedt is coming to London to open his first restaurant outside Stockholm, Ekstedt at the Yard, inside the Great Scotland Yard Hotel in Westminster. The new spot is replacing Robin Gill’s restaurant The Yard and is going to focus on his signature live fire cooking, and you’ll be able to see all the action thanks to the open kitchen.
The menu will celebrate Scandi techniques and seasonal British produce with dishes like oyster flambadou with smoked apple & beurre blanc nasturtium; ember baked leeks with white fish roe & smoked roe deer; reindeer with smoked celeriac, black pudding & salt baked roots; and cep soufflé with birch ice cream & blueberries. Ekstedt and his team will also be making butter, bread, pickles and ferments in-house too. Ekstedt has wanted to open a restaurant in London for some time so this is sure to be one big opening.
