Tucked down Bateman’s Row, just off Shoreditch High Street is the latest addition from a little sportswear brand that we all know and love. Nike’s newest project is NikeLab, a new retail platform – both digital and physical with six locations around the world – which will provide an outlet for all of Nike’s innovations, limited edition drops and collaborations. Designed to give customers an easier way into Nike’s myriad of spin-offs it highlights the innovation of Nike’s design.
Naturally NikeLab is dominated by the science and creativity of the design process behind the new collection of products. With a particularly strong focus on the closed-loop system of sustainability, NikeLab is seriously emphasising the massive steps Nike has made away from its old reputation as an irresponsible corporate bad-boy. NikeLab have been keen to minimise waste throughout the entire manufacturing process but at the same time balance it with the design that Nike is known the world over.
We’ve seen a lot of the design already as a fair few of the collaborations have already dropped but having it all in one space makes you realise just how much Nike have got on offer. With walls of shelves heaving with floral, studded and insanely colourful sneakers and tables covered in the leopard print sportswear the whole NikeLab space is a temple to innovative design.
