NIGHTJAR TO OPEN IN CARNABY

East London speakeasy Nightjar is heading central and opening a second bar in Kingly Court this spring. The site Nightjar is taking over has a rich history as a music venue – it was the city’s first black-owned club in the 30s & 40s, before Ronnie Scott took it over in the 50s – and now it’ll play host to late-night live jazz, blues and swing, with Art Deco interiors helping to transport you back in time to the Roaring Twenties.

On the cocktail front, the Soho menu, like at the original bar, will be split into Pre-Prohibition, Prohibition and Post-War sections, and will make use of vintage spirits and liqueurs. You can expect drinks like the Aztec Tepache (Herradura, Chinotta & camomilla liquor, pineapple huacatay & purple corn tepacher, fino sherry & lime juice), the Toronto (Woodford Reserve Bourbon whiskey, orange blossom smoke, coffee & roasted pecan maple syrup, Fernet Branca & candyfloss), and the Barrel Aged Zombie (a blend of five different rums, Hendrick’s Absinth, apricot brandy, Maraschino, Mamajuana Cordial, pineapple juice & ginger beer). Signature serves from the Nightjar team and sharing cocktails will also be on offer, alongside small plates like mozzarella & jamon toasties and romesco with olive crackers, to keep you going late into the night.
