New Wine Bar, Deli and Bistro Clara’s to Open in Shoreditch

Pastries, produce, wine and a Med-inspired menu is on the way

George Hartshorn, owner of The Farrier in Camden, is heading east to open his next spot, and rather than a pub, it’ll be a deli, wine bar and bistro. And he’s assembling quite the team to run it, with Rochelle Hutchinson (ex-River Cafe) coming in as General Manager and Elie Fourcroy (ex-Artusi) heading up the kitchen.

Clara’s, coming to Shoreditch in October (the deli is open from 13th October, the wine bar opens on 17th October), will run as a cafe and deli in the day, serving speciality coffee from Extract Coffee Roasters, pastries and breads from Dusty Knuckle, house-made cakes, and sandwiches and salad boxes at lunchtime. The deli, open until 7pm, will be filled with top quality produce from suppliers like Flourish, Provisions, HG Walter and Neal’s Yard Dairy, so you’ll be able to stock up charcuterie, tinned fish, meats, and cheese, including freshly-made Clara’s mozzarella.

The space then flips into a 45-seater wine bar and dining room in the evenings (Weds – Sun) and weekend lunchtimes. Fourcroy’s menu is inspired by the Mediterranean, so you can expect dishes like:

  • rillettes
  • bruschetta con tomate
  • manchego fritti topped with parmesan
  • braised rabbit with pimentón, herbs and Tenerife red wine vinegar
  • Clara’s salad Niçoise – with seasonal variations like confit duck, pickled beetroot and broad beans

That’ll be complemented by a wine list featuring bottles from low-intervention producers from across the UK and Europe, and there’ll be wine tasting and salami making events to get stuck into too. Sounds like a real one-stop-shop.
