New Indian Spot Bulbul Is Bringing Small Plates and Big Design Energy to the City

Landing on Tudor Street this summer, Bulbul is set to give the City’s restaurant scene an injection of colour and spice.

Just a short walk from Blackfriars, the South Bank and St Paul’s, the new opening comes from chef-restaurateur Rohan D’Souza and Twinkle Keswani, who was named Young Restaurateur of the Year by The Economic Times in 2023. Between them, they already run multiple restaurants in India.

Ahead of the launch, the pair travelled across India, spending time in local kitchens, markets and home restaurants to build a menu spotlighting dishes that rarely make it beyond their own regions. Expect Forest Pepper Crab Dosa, a Tamil Nadu-style dosa stuffed with crab and forest pepper masala; Goan Shrimp Balchão, where 48-hour braised shrimp is piled onto melba toast; and larger plates like Jim Corbett Hunter’s Murgh Mussallam and Nilgiri Beef Short Rib Korma.

At the bar, the Flight of Bulbul cocktail list draws on different regions of India, with each drink inspired by a specific place or ingredient. The interiors are just as transportive. Designed by Mumbai’s Right Brain Design Studio, the space is going full maximalist forest fantasy, with saturated colours, artful details and plenty of visual drama.

Looks like 2026 is shaping up to be an Indian summer.
