New Independent Cinema Coldharbour Blue Is Coming to Brixton

It’s opening this May with a free short film festival

Whirled Cinema has been operating out of the railway arches in Loughborough Junction since 2010 but this spring it’s moving out and new cinema Coldharbour Blue is moving in. Founded by friends Chris and Tom, who have backgrounds in hospitality and film respectively, and who are both Brixton locals, Coldharbour Blue will be a members-focussed cinema with a wide-ranging prorgramme, encompassing box office hits, cult classics, art house movies, documentaries and recordings of National Theatre and Royal Opera House productions.

The pair want Coldharbour Blue to become a real community space so as well as film screenings, it’ll also be hosting film festivals, music events and comedy nights, as well as being available for private hire. The cinema will be opening with a free short film festival in association with short film streaming platform Klipist, running from 12pm – 8pm on Sat 3rd May, with drinks on offer until late.

The regular programme will begin from Tues 6th May, with films shown twice a week to members, plus one classic night, one documentary night, one arts night and one dub music event a week. Klipist’s short film of the week will be shown before each screening, and you’ll be able to get food and drinks from Yard Sale and Black Lines. So if you wanna get a first look at Coldharbour Blue, get down there in May.
