A New Floating Lido Is Coming to London

Proposals for the outdoor natural pool have been approved

A trip to the lido is a British summer classic – and since many of them can resemble human soup the moment the sun comes out, we’re more than happy to see another one on the way. Sea Lanes, the team behind Brighton’s National Open Water Swimming Centre, has had its plans for a 50m natural water floating lido in Canary Wharf approved.

Sea Lanes Canary Wharf, a new development set to open in the summer, promises far more than just a pool. The six-lane, 50m natural water lido will float within Eden Dock, benefitting from its EU-rated “Excellent” water quality. The lido, which’ll be open 364 days a year for all levels of swimming competencies, is designed to act as a stepping stone between pool and open water swimming.

Alongside it, there’ll be two saunas powered by 100% renewable energy, community clubhouse with fitness classes and events, plus food, drink and courtyard seating – making this the perfect year-round swim and wellbeing destination.

Speaking about the Canary Wharf lido, Joe McNulty, Director at Sea Lanes said: “We’re thrilled to bring a National Open Water Swimming Centre to the heart of Canary Wharf, offering Londoners a chance to swim in natural water. Sea Lanes Canary Wharf will be more than just a swimming pool – it will be an urban oasis for health and wellbeing all set within the green and biodiverse waterfront of Eden Dock. We’re excited to create a space where Londoners can connect with nature, their community, and themselves.”
