NEW CREATIVE DISTRICT WOOLWICH WORKS IS COMING

A massive new creative district is coming to Woolwich as the historic Royal Arsenal is transformed into a concert venue, studio and events space complex hosting music, theatre, dance, comedy, exhibitions and more. Woolwich Works, opening in September, will also be home to a number of renowned performing arts companies, including the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, theatre company Punchdrunk, Europe’s first majority black and minority ethnic orchestra Chineke! Orchestra, Greenwich-based dance company Protein and the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.

Woolwich Works will very much be about the local community and providing access to the arts. The artists in residence will launch community and school projects once the space is open to help create opportunities to get into the creative industries. The first lot of events for Woolwich Works have also been announced, with the likes of Sara Pascoe, Ed Gamble, Emma-Jean Thackray, Afrikan Boy, Shingai, Reginald D. Hunter, and Luisa Omielan on the programme.
