Mystic Burek to Open a New Venue in Sydenham

Doma will host special events and ticketed dinners

After starting Mystic Burek in lockdown, selling massive filo pies all over London, Spasia Dinkovski grew the concept from a delivery operation to a brand that celebrates Balkan cuisine, including writing a cookbook and opening a shop in Sydenham. Spasia closed the space at the back end of 2024 but now she and her partner Tom are opening a new one, just over the road from the original Mystic Burek spot.

Doma, meaning “at home” and opening in at the end of October, won’t be a traditional cafe or restaurant, rather it’ll open exclusively for special events. There’ll be ticketed dinners for 25 people; events featuring traditional meals, grilled meats and hearty desserts; and the signature bureks being served on the last Saturday of every month.

As the weather warms up next year, Doma will host outdoor dining in its garden, with the likes of whole suckling pigs, slow-cooked rib of beef in fig leaves, homemade belo sirenje (sheep’s milk white cheese), traditional cakes, sour cherry baklava buns and Macedonian wines on offer. If you’ve missed your burek fix, you’ll wanna keep an eye out for the Doma events.
