MR WHITE’S TO OPEN IN LEICESTER SQUARE

In a comeback that perhaps no one was really expecting, Marco Pierre White is to open his first restaurant in the glitzy West End, or Leicester Square, in over 10 years. Perhaps feeling a bit jealous that Salt Bae is getting all the attention for doing over the top things in restaurants, the new spot will be typically audacious – a 600 cover, three-floor pizza restaurant called Mr White’s.

Marco has enlisted some pizza experts to help with the pizza menu, Craig and Sarah Shelmerdine, founders of the South Shields based Italian street food Log Fire Pizza Co. The trio met “at one of [Marco’s] book signings in Durham” and the relationship developed from there says Craig, who has developed the pizza menu, although details on the exact pizza offering are yet to be revealed.

Of course, filling 600 covers just doing pizza could be a tall order, even in Leicester Square, so the menu will be a bit more wide ranging, featuring steaks, grills and chops too. To drink, there’ll be a big focus on gin – including Marco’s own brand-new Mr White’s London Dry Gin.

Opens October 2021
20-21 Leicester Square, London WC2H 7LH
