MORE RESTAURANTS ARE JOINING ELEPHANT PARK

It’s all change in Elephant & Castle, thanks in no small part to Elephant Park, the massive regeneration project being run by Southwark Council and Lendlease. As well thousands of new homes across the Zone 1 development, on completion the area will also have 50 new shops, restaurants and cafes. Many operators have already opened, including vegan Ethiopian spot Beza, Caribbean restaurant Tasty Jerk, tonkotsu joint Koi Ramen, Pan-Asian concept Pot & Rice, Miko’s, the Ecuadorian restaurant that used to be located inside the Elephant & Castle shopping centre, Lebanese restaurant Bayroot, Italian street food trader Sugo, and burger joint Bobo Social. MMy, the latest spot from the Mercato Metropolitano team, consisting of artisanal kitchens, a deli, bakery & grocery store selling organic produce and biodynamic wines, and a cafe has also opened, along with sustainable dining experience and social hub MM Factory.

Four new East Asian food brands – Taiwanese tea specialists YiFang, Japanese takeaway spot Kokoro, e-sports cafe Wanyoo, and Asian fusion joint OISOI, which’ll have dim sum, a la carte and afternoon tea menus – will be among the next places to open, and with a few years until the entire Elephant Park project is completed, they defo won’t be the last.
