The team behind of our favourite Chinese restaurants, Park Chinois, is opening a new Mayfair restaurant and it’s going to be a very different affair – think relaxed all-day brasserie rather than glam Chinese, although Executive Chef Gennaro Vitto and Head Chef Valentino Pepe have both worked together at Park Chinois. Moncks of Dover St – named after 16th century local, owner of the Clarendon Estate and all-around good time guy Christopher Moncks – will be open from breakfast though to evening cocktails, serving a classic brassiere menu.

You’ll be able to get truffled benedict and a vegan Full English with ‘fried eggs’ in the morning; Caesar salad with roasted chicken and sole meunière with toasted almonds for lunch; and dishes like pan-fried monkfish with seafood jus and gremolata and roasted leg of lamb with spiced couscous, apricots and pomegranates for dinner. So yeah it’s a different vibe to Park Chinois but it’s still Mayfair so we’re expecting it to be another slick operation.
