YOU CAN NOW ACCESS 4G AND 5G AT OXFORD CIRCUS AND TOTTENHAM COURT ROAD TUBE STATIONS

By the end of the year, 33 Tube stations will have mobile coverage

Transport for London (TfL) is working on getting mobile coverage for more Tube stations across the city, and two Central London stops were connected today. Passengers travelling via Oxford Circus or Tottenham Court Road can now call, text and access 4G or 5G while they’re at the stations’ ticket halls, on the platforms and in the tunnels.

That’s not all; the long-term plan is to have mobile coverage on most Tube and Elizabeth line networks, with around 80% or up to 220 out of 272 stations set to be connected by the end of 2024. And by December 2023, a total of 33 Tube stations will be connected, including more along the Northern and Central lines.

TfL customers won’t need to sign up for or download anything extra to get connected, phones will get access automatically. Currently, this will work if you’re on the Central line between Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road and Holland Park, Notting Hill Gate and Queensway. You’ll also be connected if you’re on Tottenham Court Road Northern line platforms or on a Northern line Tube between Archway and Mornington Crescent.
