Michel Roux Jr Is Opening a New London Restaurant

After closing the legendary Le Gavroche at the beginning of the year, Michel Roux Jr is back with a new central London restaurant

It’s all change at The Langham this year; following the closure of Roux at the Landau, which was opened at the hotel by Michel Roux Jr and his late father Albert Roux in 2010, the Riviera-inspired restaurant Mimosa has taken its place. And now Dom Taylor’s Caribbean concept The Good Front Room, which has been in residence at the Palm Court for the past ten months (following the chef’s win on Five Star Kitchen where Michel Roux Jr was a judge), is making way for Roux’s new restaurant Chez Roux.

Roux has taken inspiration from his childhood in rural Kent, his time at the Fairlawne estate where his father Albert was a private chef for the Cazalet family, and the first menus from Le Gavroche in 1967 for Chez Roux, so you can expect a blend of classical French techniques and traditional British dishes. The restaurant will be open for dinners only and the menu is set to include the likes of:

  • Welsh rarebit with pickled walnut
  • lamb chops Reform with herb-crusted lamb, faggot and Reform sauce
  • grilled lobster with garlic butter, fries and bearnaise

As well as premium wines and champagnes, the cocktail list will also nod to the 60s with serves like the Queen’s Dubonnet and the Madeira Cobbler. If you’ve been missing Roux’s cooking since the closure of Le Gavroche, you won’t have much longer to wait to indulge in it again.
