At what would seem a most appropriate time, Metronomy have dropped a new single, aptly titled ‘love letters’, their 2nd single off of their new album, of the same title, just in time for music lovers to celebrate 2014’s annual day of love.
The band have this morning posted a brand new video, directed by Academy award winning Michael Gondry on their youtube channel to accompany the new single. Gondry has in the past directed early videos for Radiohead, The White Stripes and Beck before gaining critical acclaim for his direction of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which gives you some indication of the calibre of his work.
The electropop Devon quartet have been making metronomic music since 1999 releasing three previous albums with band founder Joseph Mount adding some serious remixes into his repertoire, including Gorillaz, Goldfrapp, Zero 7 and Roots Manuva amongst many others along the way.
Metronomy, booked as headline act at this year’s Field Day Festival, have a special delivery love letter of their own ready to send to their fans in the form of a ticket and album bundle offer, due for resale at 9am on Valentines Day at the not so princely sum of £50 which gives you entry into Vicky park for the Festival AND a copy of their new album in an MP3 format…but be quick on the draw as there are a limited number of ticket available for a limited period of time only…
