Mercato Metropolitano may already have a market in Elephant & Castle but the team is planning to open another food and community hub in the area in the summer.
The Mercato Metropolitano space will feature an urban production centre where grains for bakery goods, pasta and patisserie will be milled, and you’ll be able to watch the action, learn about ingredients and take part in cooking classes. There’ll also be micro-restaurants and street food traders on site.
The development is not without controversy though as it’ll be taking over the space formerly occupied by a range of Latin American and Caribbean traders.
