There certainly hasn’t been much call for minimalism in menswear for AW 16/17, what with the strong prints and block colours, and the sans-serif slogans trend continues in this vein.
Clean rather than cursive fonts keep the looks graphic and are amplified when splashed across a bold backdrop, something that both Liam Hodges and Bobby Abley used to maximum effect. Naturally slogans work well as brand carriers and are much more impactful than classic monograms, as Christopher Shannon, Maharishi and Gosha Rubchinskiy showed, but they also offered the chance for designers to be a little provocative. Case in point, Henry Holland…the slogan king included some real gems in his latest collection.
[URIS id=64380]HOW TO GET THE LOOK…
Just as with the geometric prints before, this trend works best on sportier and more casual ensembles….think about it, how often do you a slogan slapped across a suit? And to really make your slogan shout, it’s best to keep the rest of your outfit scribble-free.
