There
was a lot of love for cream for A/W 16, with designers were looking for something less stark and more luxurious than pure white. Almost every conceivable shade, from pale ivory right through to beige, was sent down the runway across a range of soft and relaxed looks, with soft being the operative word. Shearling was probably the material of choice, appearing everywhere from Coach to Tiger of Sweden, with fluffy knits and faux fur accents shown at JW Anderson and Xander Zhou.Directional as ever and flying in the face of practicality, Craig Green proved that cream also works on an utilitarian collection whilst Florin Dobre, with his tailored coats and fine gauge roll necks showed that neutrals can be sharp and sophisticated too.
[URIS id=62510]HOW TO GET THE LOOK…
As with most softer colours, cream is a very easy wear because it suits both smart and casual ensembles, looking just as good on a sharp trench or relaxed cardigan. One cream piece introduced into an all-black outfit is a cool nod to the trend but sticking to a neutral palette from top to bottom screams luxury and refinement, just make friends with your dry cleaner first!
