The sun has finally decided to rear it’s lazy head which means picnics in the park are all the rage. For a posher picnic head to Melrose and Morgan and pick up one of their brand new hampers. We dropped by the Primrose Hill branch to grab one up before heading to Primrose Hill to eat the goodies.
The hamper comes handily packaged in a cooling bag with disposable cutlery, plates, cups and napkins. There is the choice of homemade chicken, leek and ham pie (which we sampled) crammed full of meaty filling, inside a thick pastry casing, or for veggies there are a selection of vegetarian tarts. Either one comes with a pot of hummous with fresh vegetable crudités for dipping, chunky, seasonal slaw, Montgomery’s Cheddar from Neal’s Yard Dairy, homemade pear piccalilli and a small baguette.
For dessert there is a punnet of strawberries from Chegworth Valley and two refreshing Pimm’s and cucumber jellies – well it wouldn’t be summer without a Pimms! The final ingredient is a bottle of Chegworth Valley apple juice to wash it down with. All of the produce is organic, locally sourced or homemade whenever possible – A posh picnic for a posh park, this would go down a storm with a date!
