It’s been a big hit at Soho House West Hollywood (and has popped up at Houses all over the world) and now Mexican restaurant Maya has come across the pond and opened on the rooftop at The Hoxton, Shoreditch. On the ground floor the 80-cover restaurant has its own dedicated entrance off Willow Street, and on the seventh floor it has epic views over East London with al fresco tables and an indoor dining area.
Maya is headed up by Executive Chef Giacomo Pettinari, who took inspo for the original menu from time spent in Mexican restaurants in LA and from his Oaxacan kitchen staff. The London menu features the same coastal Baja-Mexican style as in LA, with a mix of West Hollywood faves like barbacoa, young coconut aguachile and made-to-order guac done tableside, and new dishes like spicy tuna tostada with crispy leeks & chipotle aioli, mushroom quesadilla with chipotle mayo, and Calabacitas taco with squash blossom & pico de gallo. Drinks sounds just as good with a Mayan Negroni, a Verde Aztec, and a T&T (that’s a tequila & Trip CBD mixer) on the cocktail list.
