MARUGAME UDON TO OPEN IN SPITALFIELDS

Prepare to slurp as the world’s largest udon noodle restaurant is coming to London this summer. Marugame Udon, which has branches across Japan, Asia and the US, is known for its Sanuki udon (a chewier texture compared to other styles of udon) and tempura, and it’s opening its first European site right near Liverpool Street in July. Like all Marugame Udon restaurants around the world, the 100-cover London one will feature an open kitchen so you can see the noodle-making in all its glory. The menu will include the likes of kama age, beef nikutama with short rib & onsen egg, two pork tonkotsu with chashu & spicy miso pork, and chicken katsu curry udon, as well as a range of tempura and a special vegan dishes like kimchi yaki udon and curry udon. You’ll be able to spice up your noodles by adding ginger, chillies, tempura batter and other toppings from the build-your-own condiment station.

Marugame Udon will also serve up dorayaki pancakes, Little Moons mochi, unlimited vanilla and vegan matcha soft serve ice cream, Asahi beer, canned sake from Kanpai and softies like ginger kombucha and Japanese Ramune lemonade. Bring on the noods!
