Market Halls is hosting London’s largest vegan ‘Pongal Feast’ this month, with Gopal’s Corner providing the food. As well as marking Veganuary, the feast will celebrate Tamil Heritage Month in London and Thai Pongal, the Tamil Harvest Festival typically celebrated throughout South India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Singapore. Gopal’s Corner, founded by Roti King’s Sugen Gopal, will be serving a traditional Tamil vegetarian menu, including four vegan or veggie curries alongside all the classic trimmings – appalam (poppadom), dried chilies, relish, vadai (spicy savoury snack) and Pongal (traditional rice pudding). Tickets are priced at £15 and the food is unlimited, so come hungry.
