Mamasons, the Filipino ‘dirty’ ice cream specialists (that’s the ice cream made in a steel drum with salt and ice), are opening a second site in Chinatown this August. Much like their original Kentish Town location, the shop will be very instagrammable with pink and tropical decor, and the desserts are sure to be popping up on many a feed too. As well as scooping out flavours like black coconut, ube (purple yam) and matcha, Mamasons will be serving up bilog (a milk bun ice cream sandwich), brownie sundaes, ube hot coco and a range of hot bevvies using coffee beans from the Phillipines. Chinatown is already home to some great dessert spots – no doubt you’ll have already seen bubble wrap waffles and taiyaki cones – so Mamasons is going to fit right in.
