If you love eating these Portuguese tarts, you’ll defo wanna learn how to make them
With his bakery Santa Nata, which has grown to six London sites and one in Oxford, Francisco Oliviera is celebrating one of Portugal’s most iconic creations. His Pastel de Nata are made to a traditional recipe in small batches throughout the day, ensuring there’s always fresh tarts on offer.
And you can learn the secrets behind these famous pastries as we’re teaming up with Santa Nata to host three exclusive Pastel de Nata making masterclasses on Sun 19th July, Sun 26th July and Sun 9th August. During the session at the Santa Nata bakery at Battersea Power Station, the master bakers will teach you how to mix, knead and layer the dough to achieve the lamination needed to create the perfect crispy texture. You’ll then learn how to form the dough cases and how to make the smooth, creamy custard that gets poured inside before they hit a hot oven to cook.
Tickets to the masterclass cost £49 and include the full session, a Pastel de Nata and a coffee/tea to enjoy, and a pack of eight Pastel de Nata (usually £27.60) to take home. There’s only space for four people in each masterclass, so if you wanna join, you’d better snap up a ticket quick!
