British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori has created a limited-edition Courvoisier VSOP bottle design
Maison Courvoisier, the Most Awarded Cognac House, is bringing a bit of its home, Jarnac in France, to London this summer with a little help from Yinka Ilori and Selfridges London. Ilori, who is returning as the brand’s ‘Ambassador of Joy’ for a second year, has taken inspo from a summer’s day in Jarnac and translated that into a brand new Courvoisier VSOP bottle design available in four ombre colours.
To show off the new bottles in all their glory, Maison Courvoisier is also taking over the Wonder Room in Selfridges London, which is decked out in Ilori’s bold colour palette, so you really won’t be able to miss it. As well as checking out the new bottles, you’ll be able to taste what’s inside them as the space is also home to a striking bar serving three bespoke Courvoisier VSOP cognac cocktails, each paired with a sweet from gourmet confectioner The Marshmallowist. They include:
- The Gala, with Courvoisier VSOP & Sicilian lemonade, paired with a blueberry, hibiscus & lemon marshmallow topped with a chocolate print
- The Roasted Peach Daisy, with Courvoisier VSOP, apricot liqueur, roasted peach syrup & lemon juice, paired with a peach marshmallow featuring a brûléed Courvoisier sugar top
- The French 125, with Courvoisier VSOP, lemon juice, sparkling wine & spiced vanilla syrup, paired with an ombre chocolate teacake marshmallow with vanilla mallow fluff, Courvoisier gel centre & white Belgian chocolate
Only 1000 of Ilori’s limited-edition bottles, retailing at £200, are available globally – and out of that, only 400 will be available to buy in the UK, and the only place you can get your hands on them is at Selfridges London in-store or online. The Wonder Room installation at the department store will only be open for three weeks, so you’d better hot foot it down there to experience some of that legendary French ‘joie de vivre’.
