Luminary Bakery is one of our faves in London, both for the epic cakes and pastries and for the fact that it operates as a social enterprise designed to offer opportunities for women from economic and social disadvantages to build a future for themselves. Luminary uses baking as a tool to take women on a journey to employability and entrepreneurship by encouraging ambition, offering people second chances and providing skills training and support.
Now Luminary is expanding from Stokey and opening a second bakery and cafe in Camden. Not only will the new site serve up all those tasty treats, including some of the best cinnamon swirls in town, it’ll be able to provide opportunities for four times as many women at any one time. That means more cake and more doing good.
