Ellen Parr and Pete Kelly have been popping up across town for the past few years with Lucky & Joy and now the duo are taking it permanent with a new home in Clapton. As well as the same retro, kitsch aesthetic, you can expect similar Chinese-inspired dishes to those served up at the pop-ups, so things like crispy chilli squid, shiitake turnip cake, Xi’an lamb burger with pickles and chilli, sesame noodles and Yunnan cucumber salad.

In addition to snacks like homemade pickles and crispy fried kidney beans, the bar will be shaking up cocktails influenced by the pair’s travels around China and South East Asia, like the Yunnan Flavour (coconut-washed vodka, ginger, lemongrass and coriander) and Lucky’s G&T (Sichuan peppercorn-infused gin, clear pomelo and tonic).

Lucky & Joy will be opening on 26th November and will have a soft launch with 50% off food from the 26th to the 28th.
