Takenfrom their excellent debut album ‘There is a Place’, the new single from Lover Lover is a warm shower of guitars, sunshine and handclaps. It is a sound that has often been compared to the likes of Fleetwood Mac, the Eurythmics, Wild Nothing and Ladyhawke, a dreamscape of hazy, uplifting Americana-pop which feels unashamedly nostalgic.
The video is a re-edit of the famous Madison dance scene from the film ‘Band of Outsiders’, directed by french new wave master Jean-Luc Godard. Possibly inspired by lead singer Eleanor Bodenham’s days baking baguettes in a Paris boulangerie – this is a perfectly timed homage to 1960’s France and the painfully cool Anna Karina. Just look at how cool she is. Most people probably couldn’t pull off the baggy jumper, kilt and fedora combo, but she just makes it look easy… god, we love her.
Lover Lover’s debut album is available now on Cross Keys Records.
