LOUIE TO OPEN IN COVENT GARDEN

Laurent de Gourcuff, the man behind the Paris Society group (which is in turn behind Parisian spots Perruche and Girafe) is taking over the old L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon site in Covent Garden and turning it into Louie. The four-storey townhouse, named after both King Louis XIV and Louis Armstrong, will feature a 150-cover French-Creole restaurant with a wood burning oven, an oyster bar and New Orleans chef Slade Rushing in charge of the kitchen. Above the two-floor restaurant will be a bar with music coming from a live jazz piano and DJs.

Guillaume Glipa, who helped launch Chiltern Firehouse and Zuma, is overseeing the opening too so that should give you an idea of what to expect from the place when it arrives in the autumn.

In the meantime, check out our fave spots in Covent Garden here.
