lotiloves homeware: chase & sorensen

Established by Brent Chase and Stine Sorensen in 2010, Chase & Sorensen specialises in original mid-20th century Scandinavian furniture and homeware. Aiming for that middle ground between ubiquitous flatpack and extortionate vintage, the American/Danish pair drive themselves to Denmark and Sweden to handpick all their items. So not only does the cost stay down, the selection in their Hackney store stays interesting.

The entire Chase & Sorensen collection is strong but their range of lighting is particularly standout, with plenty of pendant lights suspended from the ceiling. It’s a similar story with the retro seating; from rosewood Diplomat armchairs to 1960s shell chairs to a 1940s green two seat banana sofa that you don’t need but most definitely want, it’s hard to leave the showroom empty handed.

There’s plenty of ceramics and glassware on offer too, plus contemporary pieces from brands like Royal Copenhagen and Holmegaard and up-and-coming “new Nordic” studios like AYTM, Studio Arhoj and Sandager Design Studio – perfect if you want to dip your toe into Scandi design before you replace all your furniture.
