Following the death by suicide of her dear friend and fellow chef Kelly, Tobie-Anna Durk set up Kelly’s Cause, a mental health charity focused on improving the hospitality industry through training, education and support. The organisation is the UK’s leading provider of hospitality-specific Mental Health First Aid training, enabling businesses to prioritise the mental health of their staff and giving individuals the skills to look after their own mental health. Its members include the likes of Hawksmoor, St. JOHN, Ottolenghi, Studio Paskin, KERB and JKS Restaurants. In 2024, Kelly’s Cause trained 417 people in Mental Health First Aid, supported 117 sites, and hosted nine community events aimed at creating actionable change.
