As well as being a DJ, Mahnoor also runs SUP? Supper Club, an initiative that champions displaced communities and challenges the negative perception of refugees in the mainstream media through supper clubs. The events give refugees the opportunity to share the realities of their experiences and express their culture through food, as well as raise money for organisations working with displaced people, like Mobile Refugee Support and Restless Beings’ Gaza Appeal. This year SUP? introduced a new concept, Paired by SUP, where they paired a chef from the refugee community with a musician of a shared background and had them curate a one-off menu for an event that celebrates the power of food and music in bringing communities together. The inaugural sold-out event saw Big Zuu team up with chef Majeda Khouri for a Levantine feast that raised money for the South London Refugee Association.
