London’s lucky to have not one, not two, but five outposts of Self Space, the world’s first on-demand mental health service in the city. You can head to any of these places, seven days a week, morning to evening, for in-person mental wellbeing support without a waiting list, an assessment process or any commitment, with Self Space Social in Spitalfields functioning as a drop-in hub where you can connect and reset. The organisation also runs regular events like book clubs, walk clubs and international retreats. Self Space was founded by Jodie Cariss, who has over 20 years of therapy experience and who wanted to change people’s perspective of mental health support. She believes that therapy shouldn’t feel shameful or intimidating, but it also doesn’t need to be something you only turn to at a crisis point – it can be as much a part of your wellness routine as booking in a massage.
