FoodCycle is a charity that turns surplus food into nutritious meals for low-income families, those affected by homelessness, and those who can’t afford to buy food, tackling food poverty, food waste and social isolation all at the same time. With the Community Meals programme, volunteers collect surplus food, cook it and then sit down with the guests to eat, and it’s totally free, so anyone can come and join a meal. In 2023 alone, the charity saved 239 tonnes of food from going to waste and 92% of guests said they felt happier after attending a FoodCycle meal.
