Aimée Felone, the founder of children’s publishing company Knights Of, where the aim is to commission writers and illustrators from diverse backgrounds, initially created Round Table Books as a pop-up to celebrate the first anniversary of the publishing business. That week-long pop-up was such a success that she was able to take it permanent, and now Round Table Books in Brixton is stocked full of literature with diverse characters (in terms of race, gender and disability) and inclusive stories. It’s also a Community Interest Company, with a team led by women of colour, meaning the business uses its profits to fund events and projects for the community.
