Sometimes you just can’t beat a wrap, they’re the epitome of satisfying. And it certainly was when we ventured down to The Athenian at Boxpark Shoreditch on a Saturday morning to get our hands on one of their infamous souvlakis. The Athenian came onto the scene back in 2014 and boy has it grown, spreading to seven sites, six in London and one in Bristol, with all of the sites being named after Athens’ neighbourhoods too.

It’s street food all the way at The Athenian and they’re not trying to mess about with it, with souvlaki and gyros being the stars of the show. So what makes a good wrap? Well, the Greek way is pretty damn good. First, you take a soft, handmade pita wrapped around lightly chargrilled meat that’s been marinated in olive oil, lemon and Greek herbs. Then you add in tomatoes, red onions, parsley, oregano fries, homemade yoghurt and herb sauce and there you have it. And if you don’t agree then there’s something wrong with you.

Those in the midst of Veganuary will be glad to learn that you won’t miss out with a vegan menu already in full swing.
